You don't need a professional photograph. A good-quality photo taken with your phone is often enough, as long as the face is clearly visible and the lighting is reasonably good.If you are unsure which photograph to use, simply send me a few options. I can help you choose the one that will work best for the painting.
A collection piece is already painted, unique, and available right now in my Art Shop. They can be shipped immediately or collected from my Zurich studio — and they tend to sell quickly. They are also slightly more affordable.
A commission is a bespoke painting made specifically for you, tailored to your face, preferences, and colors — which is why they are priced higher.
I have completed over 500 portraits in my career and maintain a perfect record of client satisfaction. My philosophy is to always keep the client happy, doing whatever it takes to achieve that. I guide you through every step — from colours and composition to decoration advice — making the process smooth and enjoyable.
Finding the right artist can be challenging — there are not many, and styles vary widely. The best approach is to ask for recommendations and look for an artist whose work resonates with you. If my style isn’t what you’re looking for, I’m happy to point you in another direction. I know most artists in Zurich and can recommend trusted colleagues.
Galleries typically add a 40–50% commission on top of the artist’s price. The most cost-effective way to purchase quality art locally is to buy directly from the artist. This way, you not only save on markup but also build a personal connection with the creator. If my work isn’t what you’re seeking, I can still recommend talented local artists whose style you may love.
Yes — every painting comes with a signed certificate of authenticity. This is especially valuable for collectors and the resale market, as it verifies the artwork’s origin and ensures its long-term value. Some of my works have already been resold for substantial amounts, so having the certificate is an important added safeguard.
Yes. I can bring people together in a single portrait even if they were photographed separately.This is particularly meaningful for family portraits, couples, or portraits that include someone who is no longer with us. I carefully compose the different references so that the final artwork feels natural and coherent.
Often, yes. Old family photographs can sometimes be transformed into beautiful paintings.If the photograph is very small, blurry or damaged, I will first assess whether there is enough information to create a convincing portrait. If I don't think the reference will produce a good result, I'll tell you before we begin.
Yes. Before I begin the original painting, I create a digital colour study and composition based on your photographs.You will have the opportunity to review it and request adjustments. Only once you are happy with the composition do I begin painting the final artwork by hand.This means you are never simply sending me a photograph and hoping for the best.
Absolutely. A commissioned portrait can be a very personal gift for a birthday, anniversary, wedding, retirement, or other important occasion.You can provide me with the photographs and information I need, and I can handle the entire creative process with you while keeping the commission a surprise.I can even deliver to the party and do the unveiling together live
The digital study is designed to give you a clear idea of the composition, colours, mood and overall direction of the final artwork.However, the final piece is a completely original, hand-painted artwork. The texture, brushwork and subtle details created on the physical canvas are part of what makes the finished painting unique.
